Young Slovenian cellist Helena Švigelj is postgraduate student at Trinity Laban conservatoire of music and dance in the class of David Cohen.

She has won many international prizes, most recent are 1st Prize at the Soloist Competition 2018, Silver Medal of Worshipful Musicians Company, John Thompson String Ensemble Prize, 1st Prize at CAVATINA Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition 2017, 1st prize at the Vera Kantrovich Bach competition 2016, 1st prize at the Vivian Joseph classical concerto competition 2016, 2nd prize at Svirel competition, TEMSIG competition.

As soloist she performed with Slovenian Philharmonics Orchestra, Orchestra of Royal conservatory of Mons (In Belgium and France), Orchestra de chambre de Wallonie and NOVA philharmonics.

Helena takes part in many young and professionals orchestras, such as Slovenian Philharmonics, SFK Orchestra, NOVA philharmonics, YES Camerata, Orchestra of Music Academy in Ljubljana and The Royal Conservatory of Mons Orchestra.

Helena performed at festivals »Les sons intensifs«, festival »Côté cour & côté jardin«, festival de Wallonie (Belgium), »Il Concertando« Festival in Rome, festival Lent and Glasbena Mladina Ljubljanska in Slovenia.

As part of Queen Elisabeth competition in Belgium, she performed with laureate of this competition, a singer, Jodie Devos. She has as well performed with many other established musicians, such as Rivka Golani, Uxia Martinez Botana, Jerome Pernoo, Misa Kakumoto et al.

Currently Helena Švigelj plays with pianist Amos Lucidi, with whom they are giving recitals in London. She is also part of Nimy Quartet where they explore the repertoire of 20th Century music, and Cello duo, Duo Furioso with another young Slovenian cellist, Urška Horvat.

In June she will perform Elgar Cello concerto with TL Symphony Orchestra and Jessica Cottis conducting in Cadogan Hall, London.
